Borrowers Rules

1. New books added to the collection within the last six months may be checked out for two weeks and renewed once for one additional week. All other books may be kept two weeks and may be renewed once for another two week period, with the exceptions of 1-day and 7-day books and magazines. Videos may be checked out for one week and renewed once, with a limit of two videos per family.

2. A fine of five cents a day will be charged on each overdue item, this also includes videos. No library material will be issued to persons with overdue material or any outstanding fines.

3. All injuries to books, magazines, and videos beyond reasonable wear and all losses of library materials shall be paid by the borrower to the satisfactions of the librarian.

4. Each borrower is held responsible for all library material drawn on their borrower card and for all fines accruing on the same.

Policy Concerning Overdue Books and Materials

Due to the large number of books being checked out and not returned, or returned far beyond the due date, the Library Board has directed that the overdue book policy be strictly enforced. Patrons will be assessed the fine of five cents per day, per item, for overdue books and magazines and $1.00 per day, per video. Library materials which are lost or damaged must be paid for.

No new books or materials may be checked out by any patron who has books that are overdue or fines that are not paid. Patrons with overdue materials will be notified twice by mail. If there is no response following the second notification the Library Board will seek legal redress against those who have not returned library material within a reasonable time after the due date.
